Job description

As urbanization is rising and the air quality is deteriorating, we feel the need to make our cities greener and healthier by offering a sustainable mobility solution. Besides, we offer a new and fun way around town! At felyx, everybody within their own expertise is contributing to a cleaner city by making this swift door-to-door transportation the new status quo. We are working together as an ambitious team of entrepreneurs, operators, marketers and engineers, and looking to grow as we scale the business throughout Europe. Do you share our DNA: passionate, transparent, ambitious and entrepreneurial? Great! Join our ride!

Here's the challenge

Do you get high on data? Great, we do too! In the coming years, we are facing hyper-growth in The Netherlands and the rest of Europe. Therefore, our Data & Analytics team is expanding and we're getting excited about the idea of doing this in collaboration with students. That’s why we’re looking for students who would like to do their graduate research in the area of Data Engineering and/or Analytics. The goal is to develop an advanced analytical application regarding a specific business topic within our D&A tool stack and combining this with writing your master thesis. By creating valuable insights from the vast amount of data we have, you can contribute to grow our customer base and improve our product through predictive and prescriptive analyses.

Examples of Analytics research topics:

  • Sentiment analysis and automated classification of customer service tickets (e-mail/chat) in a multi-language environment.

  • Predicting the risk of unpaid invoices through ethical ML models based on user behaviour/characteristics to diminish the amount of bad debt.

  • Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) modelling to understand the drivers and generate predictions

  • Automated damage and scratch detection on vehicle images (computer vision)

Examples of Data Engineering research topics:

  • Use pipelinewise singer-connectors for third party API connections, and present the advantages and disadvantages of using this.

  • Implement great expectations for a number of important data tables

  • Implement one of our ML algorithms developed by the data science team as MVP (DevOps)

Requirements

We truly get excited if you:

  • Are a master student in the field of Econometrics, Operations Research, Data Science, Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence or a related field of study

  • Share our mindset: critical thinking, ambitious, self-starting, social and you don't take yourself too seriously

  • Enjoy working with data and developing advanced analytics

  • See yourself as a flexible person in terms of getting the job done

  • Have excellent communication skills in English

  • Experience in Python and/or R (or other programming language)

  • Speak English (required)

  • Available from September 1st 2021

Bonus points if you:

  • Are excited about operating an urban mobility service

  • Have experience in SQL

Joining our ride is becoming part of the leading global platform in urban mobility. Having a direct impact on the business with a high degree of independence will give you a very steep learning curve. Maybe also nice to know: we have a very strong, family-like team. Are you exciting? Then we both know you should apply.

At felyx we believe that the best workplace is one that represents the world we live in today. This means we believe that diversity in the broadest sense of the word connects us and drives us forward as a company.

We believe that diversity goes hand in hand with different perspectives. It is these different perspectives that can help us become better and more innovative in finding solutions for our customers.

And because we believe this can be achieved, we are looking for colleagues who are intrinsically motivated and bring the right experience. Gender, age, sexual orientation or origin will never be a factor and will never become one.
