Over the past few years, we’ve been able to rapidly grow our fleet and team. Last summer we have launched our operations in Germany which marks the further expansion of our international journey.

At felyx we use data in every part of our business to lead the market. As our number of data driven applications is increasing rapidly, our Data & Analytics team seeks a new Lead Data engineer to become part of our international expansion.

At felyx we highly encourage you to do it with your unique insights, based on your experience with ensuring data integrity and building data platforms. This is achieved by efficient cooperation between a motivated group of Data Engineers, Data Analysts and Data Scientists.

As the Lead Data engineer at felyx, you manage a team of talented Data engineers that is responsible for driving the business by designing, building and improving a high performance and scalable data landscape. This landscape includes modern technologies like eventstreaming, Snowflake, DBT and Airflow. The variety and velocity of data and techniques makes the job challenging but very rewarding in terms of professional development. This involves dealing with large datasets and making them clean, accessible and scalable. As a member of our team, you will be leading in tackling some of the most fundamental data-driven challenges we face and your work will impact the entire felyx experience.

What you will be doing
at Felyx:

  • Writing code: This is a senior engineer role where your will still perform hands-on work, especially in areas where junior team members can learn from your expertise.
  • Data Architect: Steer the direction of the key architectural decisions within Data Engineering and the broader Data & Analytics landscape – e.g. when it comes to determining the right tooling and setup for the right jobs.
  • Technical lead: Institute Data Engineering best practices to enable large-scale self-service analytics, real-time analytics and machine learning. Work with (Data) Product Owners to help them leverage our data solutions. Acts as evangelist of modern Data Engineering throughout felyx.
  • Technical manager: Act as a mentor for other Data Engineers and Analytics Engineers. Boosting the Data Engineering team in its evolution.
  • Connecter within Tech: Drive technical alignment between Data & Analytics and Engineering (DevOps, Backend, etc.) – e.g. participate in integration groups e.g. architect guild.
  • Data strategist. Provide input for defining the Data & Analytics strategy together with the Head of Data & Analytics and technical strategy together with the Solution Architect.

And important not to forget: we encourage you to grow with the company and within your role as we are continually on our journey towards ‘world domination’. Just kidding, market leader in Europe will do (for now).


How to know if you are perfect for the job:

  • Have at least 2 years of experience leading a technical team (team- or project management experience)
  • Have a deep knowledge of SQL and relational databases, preferably column-oriented databases (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)
  • Are proficient both in software development and Python.
  • Have experience with orchestration of data pipelines -preferably using Apache Airflow.
  • Have knowledge of Data modelling and ETL/ELT practices.
  • Have familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka and RabbitMQ, as well as with batch and streaming data processing frameworks (dbt, Apache Spark, Apache Beam)
  • Know your way around Linux, Docker and Kubernetes.
  • You have experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP
  • Have past experience in designing and building large-scale data platforms with reliability and maintainability in mind.
  • Have excellent communication skills in English
  • Share the felyx mindset: critical thinking, ambitious, self-starting, social and you don't take yourself too seriously

What would make you even more perfect (but don’t worry, this is a plus):

  • Have experience in working with geospatial data or machine learning models in a mobility context
  • You are a positive person and could bring good energy to the team.
  • You love the colour green & riding e-mopeds.
