Junior Legal Counsel (with DPO skills)

Are you a bright young lawyer with 3-4 years’ experience in a law firm where you did a lot of work in Data Privacy and also some other bits? Do you now want to leave the law firm and try working as a Legal Counsel at the most exciting scale-up in NL, where you will have a broad selection of tasks, one of which is to be the DPO? Here’s the challenge

We are expanding rapidly, and for this reason seeking for a skilled and motivated Legal Counsel - to join felyx in its international growth and to become part of the felyx HQ team. This position needs someone with a strong capability to lead, focus and prioritize. You will be working closely together with the CFO, the Management Team and of course with al the other departments within felyx, and report directly to our CFO.

Felyx has a proven business model in the Benelux and the company is facing hyper growth as we are expanding further throughout Europe! Therefore we are looking for a Legal Counsel who, amongst other things, is driven to take our Data Privacy to the next level.


To accomplish this you will:

  • 40% of the time, act as our Data Privacy Officer, working on everything around Data Privacy. Analyzing gaps in our policies, processes and governance, proposing improvements, documenting what we have done and communicating widely so that all felyx employees understand how important this is and act accordingly. Being the contact person for the supervisory authority on issues related to data privacy and data processing, including consultation required by GDPR.
  • 20% of the time, act as a Person of Trust (as part of the Whistleblower process) for all colleagues working at felyx, from operations to headquarters.
  • 20% of the time, act as our Company Secretary, managing our legal documents and contracts. We have a lot of legal documents and contracts that need to be updated regularly and filled properly so we can find them quickly later. There needs to be a clear structure so that we are able to act on time or renegotiate before contracts expire.
  • 20% of the time, act as our General Counsel, where you will answer first-level legal questions, manage relationships with the law firms and maintain an overview of the work that is being done by them.

Requirements

We get truly excited if you

  • Have 3-4 years’ experience in a law firm where you worked a lot in Data Privacy
  • You speak and write fluent English and Dutch. Knowledge of Dutch law is a necessity
  • Can further develop the foundations of our data privacy framework based on your gained experience
  • Are analytical and problem-solving to quickly understand and effectively support complex business initiatives and compliance projects
  • Can connect stakeholders within felyx, enable a multidisciplinary approach to develop and implement data privacy issues and convert this into scalable processes.
  • Like to do other related legal tasks
